Team Messaging allows you to communicate with your team throughout the practice. For the best experience, use this feature within the PbN desktop app, although it is also available on the website.

Setting Your Location

First, set your location within the practice. This allows you to receive messages based on your location as well as your user. To set your location:

  1. Open the Patient Flow on the desktop app (icon on the left).
  2. Navigate to the Overall Settings (icon at the top right).
  3. The first option in the settings menu is to set your location. Use the drop-down menu to select from existing options, including operatories, check-in, and check-out. To add more locations, click the + symbol on the right.

Navigating Team Messaging

To start using Team Messaging:

1. Click the Team Messaging button at the bottom left of any page in PbN or the last option on the left of the desktop app.

2. The messaging window will show a list of all open conversations under your user or location.

3. Use the filter at the top left to view Open and unread messages or All Messages, with the most recent at the top.

4. Set your current messaging status (user or location) at the top right.

Composing a New Message

1. Click the icon at the top right to compose a new message.

2. Choose your recipient(s) from either the User or Location options.

3. To create a group chat, select the Create a Group option at the top right of the window, choose multiple recipients, and title the conversation.

4. Type your message in the bottom left and hit send.

Editing and Deleting Messages

1. To edit or delete a message, hover over the person icon at the bottom left of the page until three dots appear.

2. Click the three dots to edit or delete the message.

3. You can also upload and download files and send GIFs through team messaging.

Alerts

In addition to received messages, you will see Operatory Alerts and Staff/Provider Summons at the top of the Team Messaging window. For example, if you are in a conversation with an operatory and an alert is selected on that operatory, it will appear in the chat.
