Using Custom Adjustment Types

By default, PracticeIQ combines all your adjustment types into a single category: adjustments.


However, you can choose to have your adjustment types impact collections or production. If you wish to use this option, please inform your customer success representative.


When using custom adjustment types, follow these guidelines:

  1. Set Custom Adjustment Types: Configure your adjustment types in the designated window.
  2. Match PracticeIQ Numbers: Use the Provider AR Total report in Dentrix to ensure alignment with PracticeIQ numbers.
  3. Select the Correct Date: Ensure you select "Procedure Date" instead of "Entry Date".





When Not Using Custom Adjustment Types

If you are not using custom adjustment types and all adjustments go towards production, follow this guideline:

  • Run Dentrix Reports by Procedure Date: To align with PracticeIQ, do not run Dentrix reports by "Entry Date." Instead, make sure to select "Procedure Date" for accurate production and collection reports.



Key Differences Between Dentrix and Practice IQ Reports

  • Dentrix Reports: Can be run using different filters, such as "Entry Date." This means that if you enter a service code or data in the ledger on a different day than when the service was performed, you will see different totals.
  • Practice IQ Reports: Are more specific and use the Procedure Date (the actual date of service) for production and collection reports.


To ensure consistency and accuracy in your reports, always match the criteria in Dentrix to Procedure Date based on your PracticeIQ setup.
